Ganesh Mantra

The elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvate. Ganesha is worshipped first in any prayer and before any new undertaking. With Ganesha's grace, everything can be achieved. He is the God of Wisdom, the embodiment of bliss and the one who removes obstacles.

This twelve-syllable mantra is known as a Mukti (liberation) mantra and a spiritual formula for attaining freedom.

 

The literal meaning of this mantra is, “I surrender to God, the supreme spiritual being.” Vasudeva is the transcendental being or supreme spiritual being. We are all spiritual beings and God is the supreme spiritual being. Swami Vivekananda said, “You are not your body, not your mind, you are spiritual beings blessed and eternal.” By chanting this mantra with devotion, one will attain Enlightenment.

Shiva is the auspicious one, destroyer of the ego and duality. In the Hindu trinity, Shiva is the transformer, Lord of all Yogis, the archetypal renunciate, consort of parvati, and the supreme God. He is the symbol of cosmic consciousness.
